Hi,
Id like to start by thanking you all for such a brilliant component and module. I was up until recently using ccNewsletter and generally find Communicator a lot easier to use Smiley Thanks.

Now, I have a few issues that I cant seem to find any solution to in your forum.
Ill list them below:
  • Communicator menu item does not work with SEF and Apache mod rewrite. When I have these enabled the menu item links to a blank page (with none of my other modules on it). Id really like to have SEF on as it makes the URL looks so much nicer
  • When  user subscribes they are taken to the component page which has a list of published newsletters. Is there a way of sending the newly subscribed user to a confirmation page?
  • When I first installed the module and subscribed a new user the Subscribe button changed after subscription to 'Unsubscribe'. For some reason this has stopped happening and I really cant work out why?
  • Is there a way of linking the subscription system to the Joomla core registration system? I would like each subscribed user to be sent a username and unique password so that they can log back into the site on their next visit. At the moment once a user has subscribed there doesnt seem to be a way for them to unsubscribe when they return to the site. or if there is, I cant work it out.

Basically, that is a few of my issues.

I have uploaded the site in its entirety to www.looseconnection.biz/therealbrothers
if you could take a look and try out the module... maybe you could see what the problem is???

Any help you could give would be hugely appreciated.

All the best,
Paddy Thorne

Thanks for your nice words.  Topics with several subjects are hard to answer. I'll try anyhow.

1) I have Communicator working with a standard template and system SEF and mod_rewrite.
?? Do you tried with a standard template ??
?? Do you have other SEF components installed ??
?? Have you checked this topic. ??

2)  Not with V2.0.2.   But on the todo list for next Communicator.

3) Logged and subscribed users get the 'Unsubscribe' Button displayed.

4) What you intend it not possible at this time.  But each subcribed user should be able to unsubscribe with his email address.

Hi,
I am currently having the same kind of problem with SEF and Apache mod rewrite, it links to a blank page and when a user subscribes there are no messages telling the user if it did work or not.

Thank you for your time,
Marc

Please give more information on system versions for the first part.

The second part has been answered several times in this forum.

I am using SEF and mod_rewrite and they seem to be the problem since when they are turned off the module works, the template I am using isn't the problem since the component has the same behavior with regular templates. I have tried to "bypass" the url rewriting by making an exception with what the component sends in the url, but without any success yet.
