Everything looks great in the preview in the editor, but when I go to the "send" area the header image is missing. The src address is shown in the code at the very bottom as relative /folder/file.gif rather than the absolute url I put in in the editor : h t t p://www.mysite.com/myjoomla/folder/file.gif. (http is space out to remove auto-link confusion from this made-up address)
[SOLUTION]: AFTER I TESTED SENDING TO VARIOUS MACHINES & OSs, I REALIZED THAT PERHAPS I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO SEE THE PREVIEW IN THE SEND AREA. THE IMAGE IS EMBEDDED AND SHOWING UP IN E-MAIL AS IT ARRIVES. I am very pleased with the Communicator component thus far.
It seems this is partly true. Everything looks fine, but if the receiver prints newsletter all special characters like é are messed up with other strange characters.

I suppose the title should read 'characters problem' rather than 'image problem'. Or I understood you wrong. The image proble ist solved, isn't it?
The character translation problem might be a problem of the receiving client if that client does not handle UTF-8 correctly or the client user has an overwrite in place to always use another character-set.

Hi Erik,
I did search for the problem and this was close. It is (also) an image problem, because when I compose a newsletter without the image (logo) the printout is ok.
In another topic I found about the configuration in JCE to change the standard from relative to the full url. That did the trick! So. problem solved!
